There is a positive culture within the service of innovation, research and development.

We are in the position to recruit Psychologists who already have the competence and experience relevant to an 8a position, or Psychologists who meet the qualification, training and competence for a band 7 post. In the case of the latter, we are able to offer a professional knowledge and skills-based development programme that will provide you with the opportunity to acquire the appropriate skills and competencies to enable your progression into the 8a role. The expectation is that this progression would be achieved within a time frame of 12 - 18 months.

Newly qualified practitioner psychologists who will be qualifying and achieving HCPC status on qualification in 2022 are also invited to apply for the post. Successful applicants will remain on a band 6 banding until confirmation that they have met the requirements for Doctorate status and HCPC registration is received.

Main duties of the job

The successful post holder will be part of a psychology service that is fully integrated to the care provided across the stroke pathway. They will have the opportunity to work with stroke survivors and their families on the acute and rehabilitation wards, as part of the Early Supported Discharge service and through outpatient clinics.

The role includes providing direct psychological assessments and interventions, cognitive and neuropsychological assessments and staff and multi-disciplinary consultation. The post will involve working closely with MDT colleagues to promote wellbeing, rehabilitation and adjustment.

Research, service improvement and continuing professional development are supported and encouraged and the service is a regular provider of training placements.

Telephone or email contact for informal discussion or to arrange a visit is very much welcomed.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
