Job summary
An exciting opportunity has been developed to join the Acute Geriatrics Frailty Service at University Hospital of Wales (UHW), Cardiff.
The primary role of the post will be to help develop, deliver and evaluate the new Acute Frailty Unit at the site which will serve as a substantive footprint at the coalface of acute presentations of frail older people to the Emergency Department. The appointee will join the wider Consultant Geriatrician led multidisciplinary team Acute Frailty Service focussing on the specialist comprehensive geriatric assessment and management of the acutely presenting frail older person.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will also have an in-patient acute rehabilitation bed base at Llandough Hospital where you will be providing ongoing rehabilitation, medical care and complex discharge planning. A sub-specialty interest in managing continence disorders will also form part of the job plan, working with colleagues to develop and deliver specialist continence services for frail older people based at St David's Hospital.
This post is full-time, but consideration will be given to flexible working arrangement requests.
Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.
You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £82,356 per annum to £106,920 per annum plus a further £26,672 per annum available in Commitment Awards. Consultants in Wales paid on one of the first three points of the substantive Consultant pay scale also receive a Wales recruitment incentive payment.
Applicants must ensure they provide the names and contact details of referees covering at least the last three years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.
