Job summary
The role supports the delivery of patient safety, quality and risk management within Medicine Clinical Board (MCB) with the aim of providing the safest and most effective care to our patients to include the reduction and mitigation of risk. The post-holder will disseminate and embed learning from error/events/reports and oversee the provision of assurance to MCB Triumvirate Team that the services we deliver are safe and effective. Essentially, the post holder will lead on the Inclusivity of the multi-professional ownership of the quality agenda.
The post requires someone who combines experience and credibility in patient safety, quality, risk management and assurance. The post holder will work proactively to provide oversight of the delivery within MCB of the UHB's Quality Framework and Risk Management Strategy. They will have the ability to engage with a wide group of staff members, with sufficient senior credibility and experience to influence the Senior Management Team and Senior Clinical Leaders internally and externally within MCB regarding the quality and assurance agenda.
Main duties of the job
Hold operational responsibility for establishing robust clinical governance arrangements across the Clinical Board (CB) from services through the directorates to Medicine Clinical Management Team. Develop/drive excellence, embedding outstanding clinical governance practice across the whole of the CB.
Provide a strong link between the Clinical Board and Cardiff and Vale UHB's Corporate Risk and Governance Office and Patient safety, ensuring MCB is aligned to the Risk Management and Board Assurance Framework Strategy, maintaining the Clinical Boards Risk Register and reporting risks into the Quality Safety and Patient Experience committee and Executive Performance Reviews.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
