Job summary

This is a very exciting and innovative time for Lymphoedema Wales and the Cardiff & Vale Lymphoedema Service with continued development of the service.

You will work closely with the lymphoedema team under the guidance the Lymphoedema Lead Therapist in providing and evidence based lymphoedema service for the residents of the Health Board. This post will involve assessing and treating patients with primary, cancer and non-cancer related lymphoedema. The post holder would be expected to be involved in teaching, audit and evaluation of the service.

You should have proven skills in the field of lymphoedema/chronic oedema/ dermatology, although full training is available for the suitable candidate. You should also have excellent communication skills and be able to provide concise professional advice and support to patients. Experience in oncology, rehabilitation, wound management and community work would be beneficial. A confident, enthusiastic and positive approach outlook to facilitate on going development is also important.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work collaboratively with the Community Nursing Service, Wound Clinics and the Lymphoedema Service, ensuring patient care is delivered to the highest quality care, utilising research and evidence based practice in line with local and national policies, professional standards and guidance.

The post holder will have skills and experience to treat and assess complex chronic oedema, wet legs and superficial wounds and will work alongside non-registered, and pre/post registration staff, providing supervision, teaching and assessment of competencies related to Chronic Oedema management.
