Job summary

Applications are invited for permanent Band 5 dietitians within the Cardiff and Vale UHB Dietetic Team. The postholders have the potential to work across a range of inpatient and outpatient dietetic services. We are looking for enthusiastic graduates or experienced band 5 dietitians wishing to experience a supportive, exciting and varied band 5 career to join our team.

Band 5 posts at Cardiff and Vale are largely rotational and include the opportunity to work within the acute, community and public health dietetic teams including multidisciplinary Community Resource Teams, community dietetic clinics, home visits, group education, mental health, acute medicine and surgery, with specialties of oncology, gastroenterology, stroke, vascular surgery, rehabilitation, respiratory medicine, renal medicine and cardiology.

You will work within a friendly and highly skilled department and have numerous opportunities for professional and personal development. You will be actively involved in the research, audit and the Quality and Safety agenda of the department and UHB. The service is a major provider of pre-registration dietetic education and the successful candidate will be involved in the delivery of training and education for dietetic students.

There are currently vacancies at the University Hospital of Wales however there may be opportunities in University Hospital Llandough or within community services.

Main duties of the job

The post-holders will be responsible for the day to day management of an adult patient caseload within Cardiff and Vale UHB dietetic services. Using evidence-based patient centred principals to assess, plan, implement and evaluate dietetic interventions for patients and maintain associated records.

For community-based posts, the ability to travel with equipment across Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is a requirement. Posts may include some evening and weekend working.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
