Job summary
The post will be a part of the Acute/General Medical Junior Doctor tier at University Hospital of Wales and/or University Hospital Llandough, taking a share of the on call duties and gaining exposure to a wide range of medical conditions while being fully supported by an appropriate junior and senior team.
This will include access to clinical supervision as well as internal educational and training opportunities. The successful applicant will gain experience across a range of general medical ward areas. The post has a core service purpose to support the safe delivery of care to the wards and acute unselected medical on call rota.
Exposure to a specialty at F3/ST1 grade can help to round out a CV, meet portfolio requirements & clarify the level of interest in obtaining a training post in a specialty. It
The exact nature and timing of the sessions will be dependent upon the candidate's preferences and the opportunities within the system, moderated by the service requirements.
Typically, a doctor who is new to the UK/NHS would start with duties in the acute medicine ward, where the range of experience and support is best suited to learning the practical aspects of the role. We aim to deliver the best experience and training possible, within the service requirements of the hospital.
Main duties of the job
The Trust will make best attempts to place successful candidates in their chosen specialty or specialties, as part of the recruitment process. In the event that there are multiple requests for the same specialty, which exceed the staffing/capacity requirements, then the Trust will offer alternative options so that all appointees get the best experience possible.
