Job summary

Maple Ward:

Is a male only Low Secure ward in the Adult Mental Health Unit, Hafan Y Coed, at University Hospital Llandough. The ward is currently the admissions/treatment ward and provides acute care and rehabilitation for a maximum of 13 patients over the age of 18. The service provides specialist mental health assessment, treatment and support for mentally disordered offenders and those at risk of offending in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, some of whom may be subject to Home Office Restriction.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development,implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without direction and supervision.

Demonstrate and supervise practice and procedures to registered and unregistered nursing staff to secure effective nursing practice.

To take a key role in the induction and mentorship of new and unregistered staff, and provide supervision.
