Job summary

MHSOP and the Young Onset Dementia Service are looking to recruit a Band 5 General trained nurse to work alongside the Mental Health nurses on our Young Onset Dementia ward based in Barry Hospital.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and caring Registered General Nurse within our dedicated and unique Young Onset Dementia ward, based in Barry hospital.

We are looking for a general trained nurse who has a solid understanding of fundamental nursing skills to join our multi-disciplinary ward team.

The Young Onset Dementia ward is an acute assessment ward that looks after people who have been given a diagnosis of dementia and are under the age of 65 years. Young onset dementia not only has a significant effect on a person's mental health but also hugely impacts on their physical health and therefore we are looking at someone who can support the team in the day to day functions of the ward as well as championing high quality physical healthcare.

This is a unique opportunity for a General trained nurse to not only develop and maintain their general nursing competencies and skills but also gain an amazing insight into mental health and dementia.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
