Job summary

The post-holder will become an integral part of the acute department at University Hospital of Wales. He/she will be given training in Acute and general medicine, including work within the AU.

The post is available as soon as possible and is for 12 months.

He/she will have responsibility for ward inpatients and, as such, will be expected to attend board rounds, ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings.

He/she will help supervise the ward juniors, help manage the inpatients as well as providing support for seriously ill patients and help coordinate their discharge planning.

The post holder will have a designated educational and clinical supervisor whom they will meet on a regular basis. Annual leave entitlement is 27 days per annum. Study leave and access to study leave expenses will be negotiable.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical fellows will be required to perform clinical work on AU and acute ward. both as the first doctor to see patients with the range of problems which present to a busy emergency department, and supervising the work of more junior staff

The appointee will work closely with the admitting general medical and the multidisciplinary team

The post holder will be expected to contribute to the teaching of medical students and junior doctors.

The appointee will be expected to undertake audit, and be encouraged to take on clinical research projects depending on the interests of the successful applicant(s).
