Job summary
For the first time Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan Local Authority, in partnership with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, are jointly developing a team to support and sit alongside young people and their families who are experiencing high levels of distress.
The team's core values are: Trauma Informed, Formulation Driven and Attachment Focused. The team will ensure that understanding of young people's needs are centred around: 'what has happened to them?' as opposed to: 'what is wrong with them?' This understanding will determine how the team supports young people and their families at times of high distress.
Main duties of the job
We welcome applications from occupational therapists with a breath of experience which may include community, trauma, paediatrics and mental health. You must be driven to share expertise within the MDT to ensure the concepts of occupational performance, safe regulation and crisis support, are broadly available. You must have advanced clinical reasoning skills to formulate complex packages of care within the MDT which aim to avoid hospital admission and support rehabilitation and self-management
Whilst service delivery is within the Recovery and Looked After Children's teams, you will be part of the larger paediatric occupational therapy team which support children and young people across Cardiff and Vale. You will receive clinical supervision from the Clinical Lead within the ENFYs - Children Looked After Service, with support to implement trauma and attachment intervention to sustain occupational engagement. This is a developing service meaning that skills you have in collating evidenced based practice, networking and determining outcomes will all be expanded within this role. This will require you to demonstrate initiation, leadership and excellent communication skills.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
