Job summary
The post holder will be a critical part of the PCIC Community Pharmacy team. Accountable to the Head of Community Pharmacy for PCIC, you will provide the LHB with highly specialised expert advice on all aspects of provision of community pharmacy services, support community pharmacists in implementation of services within the pharmacy contract and will support the Head of Community Pharmacy in providing assurance that pharmaceutical services are implemented to the required standard, of the pharmacy contractual framework in accordance with the NHS regulations, through the monitoring process.
You will work with the Head of Community Pharmacy and Senior PCIC Pharmacists to raise the profile of community pharmacy within the UHB and develop improved links between GPs and community pharmacists, supporting the integration of community pharmacy services within the Clusters.
You will work collaboratively with stakeholders across primary care including Primary Care Contractor Collaboratives and Cluster Leads, stakeholders within the wider Health Board and a wide range of external stakeholders including Welsh Government, Community Pharmacy Wales and the Community Health Council.
Main duties of the job
To work with the Lead Pharmacist for PCIC and Head of Community Pharmacy to develop & implement a Community Pharmacy Strategy
To develop existing, & to plan & implement new community pharmacy services in line with local commissioning process
To provide expert advice regarding medicines legislation, community pharmacy regulation & contractual obligations
To support in delivering the clinical governance agenda to community pharmacy & provide professional advice regarding complaints made against community pharmacies and community pharmacy services
To plan, arrange, prepare, & carry out a programme of annual visits to community pharmacies to ensure compliance with terms of service
To analyse & monitor expenditure against community pharmacy contract budget
To determine, plan, organise and evaluate local pharmacy health promotion campaigns
To facilitate and deliver expert content to educational meetings
To identify opportunities for joint working and collaboration between the GP and community pharmacy professionals to benefit patient care
To develop and maintain close links with Community Pharmacy Wales (CPW) and pharmacy contractors, the General Pharmaceutical Council Inspector.
To lead agenda items of the Community Pharmacy Operational Group Meeting with CPW and NHS Shared Services Partnership
