This opportunity to join the pharmacy team at Cardiff & Vale UHB presents an exciting chance to undertake the new HEIW / Cardiff University post-registration foundation pharmacist training programme which offers a structured pathway to deliver more complex patient care.

This programme also includes the opportunity to gain your independent prescribing qualification and includes structured support to help you develop within the hospital environment and progress your career with us. This is an ideal post for a pharmacist who recently qualified, is qualifying this summer or is looking to move into the hospital sector.

The pharmacy team provides a 7 day service. The role will include ward and dispensary support over weekends and on-call duties.

Main duties of the job

As a post-registration foundation pharmacist you will get the chance to work in a variety of clinical areas, using your skills within the ward based multi-disciplinary team to ensure optimal and safe medicines are prescribed for your patients. The training programme and post will provide an opportunity to build confidence and competence in practice, with the support from experienced practitioners.

Cardiff & Vale UHB are supporting this new post-registration foundation pharmacist training programme within NHS Wales to develop the capabilities to meet the current and future NHS needs and deliver improved care for our residents. The programme will provide an opportunity to develop communities of practice with fellow peers to support each other in everyday practice alongside attainment of an Independent prescribing qualification.

The programme will include completion of an online ePortfolio of evidence to demonstrate achievement of the RPS post-registration foundation pharmacist curriculum learning outcomes and successful completion will support progression to the RPS advanced practice pathway. You will have dedicated protected time in practice to develop evidence and undertake programme activities, and on successful completion of the programme you will have postgraduate credit-bearing modules awarded by Cardiff University and RPS credential for post-registration foundation generalist level.
