Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our B6 rotation of acute services within the Cardiff & Vale University Health Board Adult Speech & Language Therapy service. You will be responsible for the delivery of a specialised SLT service to a caseload of adults across a range of acute services.

This is newly funded position linked to the development of the Integrated Assessment & Care Unit (IACU) based at Lakeside Wing, University Hospital of Wales.

This rotational post is based on the acute wards at the University Hospital of Wales and the University Hospital Llandough. The clinical areas available on the rotation are Neurosciences, Major trauma, Acute medicine, stroke and Neuro oncology. You will also participate in weekend working rota for stroke.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a SLT with the relevant professional qualifications and experience to join the acute SLT team. You should have experience of working with a wide range of communication and swallowing difficulties, be a good team player and able to organise your time effectively. You are motivated and enthusiastic, and have the resilience to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment.

You will be required to work effectively in collaboration with the multidisciplinary teams, including other health professionals to promote the development, planning and delivery of intervention programmes and training in the specialist clinical area. The adult SLT service at Cardiff & Vale is a innovative and friendly service with Clinical Lead SLTs providing robust support and supervision. Participation in service projects and audits is encouraged.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
