Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and dynamic nurse to join our nursing team as a band 6 Registered Nurse on the Teenage Cancer Trust Unit, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

We are looking for a nurse with the skills, dedication, and compassion that can make a difference to Teenagers and Young Adults with haematology and oncology conditions, undergoing Blood and Stem Cell Transplantation, chemotherapy and supportive care. This exciting and dynamic nursing post will support youngadults' from across South Wales.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual with high standards of professionalism and someone who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will have the experience of caring for haematology, oncology or complex care patients. The successful candidate will be expected to deputise for the ward Sister and preceptor the junior nurses.

  • Registered General Nurse
  • Competent in administration of parenteral chemotherapy
  • Experience in cannulation skills and venepuncture
  • Post registration qualification in Oncology/Haematology

Desirable

  • Educated or working towards to degree level

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

  • Substantial years experience at Band 5 grade in Oncology/haematology nursing.
  • Evidence of managerial ability and experience.
