Job summary

We are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (UHB). The UHB serves a diverse and growing population; it provides health care services to its local residents and also hosts a range of regional and national specialist services, including the Children's Hospital for Wales.

The post holder will be contribute to the delivery of specialist Speech and Language Therapy services to a caseload of children with a range of complex needs including eating, drinking swallowing, speech, language and communication difficulties as part of the Special Schools Team.

Main duties of the job

Band 6 Specialist SLT Special Schools

The role will require clinical decision making on supporting children with complex eating, drinking, swallowing (EDS) and communication difficulties within a special school setting, providing person centred care.

The service will be delivered in special schools across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. The post offers the opportunity to work closely with the Core SLT Service, and the Acute EDS team based at the Children's Hospital for Wales.

The role will involve supporting junior members of staff and students. Training and support will be provide to facilitate skill development and CPD is positively encouraged.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
