Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Consultant Obstetrician with a special interest in Maternal Medicine based at University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.
The successful candidate will have proven skills in obstetric practice and a commitment to multidisciplinary working. The appointee will contribute to existing obstetric services and have the opportunity to develop a Maternal Medicine antenatal clinic in their area of interest. There will also be the potential to develop an outpatient service within the Obstetric triage unit in line with service needs and individual preference. There will be a regular weekly Labour Ward day along with predictable on-call week-day and weekend commitment.
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.
Main duties of the job
Academic interests will be encouraged; research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University's School of Medicine will be expected.
Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.
Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.
You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £82,356 per annum to £106,920 per annum plus a further £26,672 per annum available in Commitment Awards. Consultants in Wales paid on one of the first three points of the substantive Consultant pay scale also receive a Wales recruitment incentive payment.
Applicants must ensure they provide the names and contact details of referees covering at least the last three years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.
