Job summary

The Training Programme Director is responsible for coordinating the Dental Foundation Training programme in NHS England across London, Kent, Surrey, and Sussex.

Oversight of Dental Foundation training in London and KSS, individuals will be allocated to a set scheme or task/area.

This advert is for

2x Training Programme Director - 4 PA each

The role of Training Programme Director is to work with and support the Associate Postgraduate Dental Dean in leading the delivery of a wide range of functions within their specialty, aligned to the NHS England mandate. The Programme Director will ensure that both national standards, determined by the specialty Royal College and also guidelines and standards established within London and KSS are met.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work closely with the Associate Dental Deans, other Dental TPD's, LaSE team including the Dental Business Manager, the Regional Postgraduate Dental Dean, and other key departments including Quality.

They will work with the Associate Dental Deans to produce orthodontists who will strive for the highest standards of patient-centred care and commit themselves to a lifetime of professional development

The Training Programme Director is professionally and managerially accountable to the Associate Postgraduate Dental Dean. The Training Programme Director will focus upon improvement of learner supervision, assessment and experience, engagement of faculty and ensuring effective educational outcomes, both now and in the future. The role is evolving and will also focus on whole workforce transformation and developing multi-professional links.

To support the Postgraduate Dean, Training Programme Directors will work across the spectrum of health and where relevant, social care, within the context of a team, so that the provision of education reflects changing service models. This will deliver an integrated workforce comprising individuals from a spectrum of professional and other backgrounds.

The length of appointment will be for 12 months plus potential for an extension subject to agreement of both parties.

  • Have genuine enthusiasm for education and relevant, up-to-date training in teaching methods
