Main duties of the job
Having a sustainable higher specialist training programme in Public Health in the East Midlands benefits those organisations which host training placements as the trainee whose salaries are paid for by NHS England. Those in the training programme are a valuable resource to those organisations and the programme plays a key role in developing the future workforce of DsPH and Consultants. There are 2 PA available for this role and the successful applicant will join the current TPDs and running the Training Programme. The post would be an ideal opportunity for an experienced educator in Public Health aiming to further develop their educational portfolio. The post holder will work with Public Health and Medical Workforce specialists, the higher specialist training team and others within NHS England to support recruitment, assessment, programme management and other essential activity. East Midlands and West Midlands are now working more closely together on shared issues to ensure consistency - the new appointee will contribute to that ongoing process. Given the multidisciplinary nature of Public Health, which recruits Specialty Trainees and employs Consultants (including outside the NHS) from backgrounds other than Medicine, it is recognised that those having a Public Health and educational leadership backgrounds with membership of the Faculty of Public Health (rather than a medical degree and primary clinical healthcare qualification) are eligible to apply on an equal footing.
