Job summary

An opportunity has arisen in the Thames Valley Education Department within NHSE for a full-time Education Programme Officer.

Our ideal candidate will be a be a good team player, who enjoys communicating with a wide range of people, be highly organised and have a flexible positive approach to work.

The successful applicant will have a good general level of education and be able to deal with a very busy environment. You will also have good time management skills (including reliability and punctuality); able to demonstrate a pro-active attitude; attention to detail and the ability to approach obstacles in a creative and constructive manner.

Main duties of the job

In the Education Programme Officer role you will be responsible for assisting within a wide portfolio that includes:

  • The management of training programmes, from induction to completion of programme
  • Support the Education Programme Manager with the finance processes
  • Organising trainer recruitment events
  • Assisting with national events
  • Documenting procedures
  • Supporting Postgraduate Dean; Associate Deans; Education Programme Coordinators/Officers as well as Training Programme Directors.
  • Organising conferences and meetings

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • ECDL or equivalent IT qualification or demonstrable knowledge
  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
  • Evidence of continued professional development

Desirable

  • Understanding of project principles, techniques and tools, such as Prince 2 Foundation and Microsoft Project

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience of managing and co-ordinating projects in complex and challenging environments

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a Healthcare environment
  • Use of Intrepid and e-Portfolio

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Ability to plan and manage own work load over short, medium and long-term timeframes and adjust plans and resource requirements accordingly, working to tight and often changing timescales, sometimes at short notice and unexpectedly
