Job summary

The Postgraduate School of Pathology is inviting applications for a Training Programme Director (TPD) for Combined Infection Training (joint) and Infectious Diseases. The post would be an ideal opportunity for an experienced educational supervisor /college tutor aiming to further develop their educational portfolio.

The successful applicant for this post will support the Head of Postgraduate School of Pathology in the co-ordination and direction of Specialty trainingin NHS England (NHSE) - Education across the West Midlands.

In conjunction with the Postgraduate School of Pathology, NHSE - Education, the post holder will develop, plan and lead the delivery of postgraduate training programme in Infectious Diseases in West Midlands. While the post is based in the Postgraduate School of Pathology, the post holder will maintain close liaison with the School of Medicine (and Head of School) for matters relating to physician training.

It is the post holder's responsibility to ensure the training programme covers and keeps up to date with the GMC curriculum and that centres delivering training have appropriate GMC recognition.

The post holder will work together as joint TPD for Combined Infection Training (CIT) with the TPD in Microbiology, and trainers within the region to run a cohesive and high-quality training programme in accordance with GMC curriculum and ensure a safe working environment for specialist trainees.

The post holder will ensure that trainees are accessing local teaching opportunities appropriate to their role and stage of training.

The post holder will contribute to (or nominate a representative within the region) Specialist Advisory Committees (SAC) in Combined Infection Training and Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine.

The post holder will co-chair Specialist Training Committee (STC) meetings in Infection within West Midlands alongside TPD in CIT/Microbiology.
