Job summary
The post holder will be responsible for oversight of professional development of Dental Foundation trainees within an allocated scheme. You will be part of a team responsible for monitoring and improving standards for Dental Foundation training across the region. You will co-ordinate quality-assessment and management of educational and clinical supervisors (trainers) relevant to the needs of Dental Foundation training.

Main duties of the job
To co-ordinate quality-assessment and management of educational and clinical supervisors (trainers) relevant to the needs of DF training in NHSE
As directed by the regional AD for Foundation Training and Postgraduate Dental Dean to assist with the review of Educational Supervisors and training practices, including making practice visits and providing necessary reports
Development and performance management of FDs
To liaise with Educational Supervisors on a regular basis regarding the FDs' progress towards working independently in NHS practice
Ensure the trainers are up to date with the E-Portfolio
Organise and facilitate regular case-based discussions as part of the study programme at the discretion of the regional AD
TPD will attend HEE NW headquarters when requested by the AD
Will provide details of planned annual leave to the central Dental office and arrangements for cover
Undertake educational/performance practice visits
TPDs will undertake compliance visits when directed by the ADs for Foundation and Performance and Conduct

Essential
- Primary dental qualification
- At least 5 years' experience as an Educational Supervisor
- Maintain an NHS clinical commitment
- Current active GDC Registration (without conditions past or present)
- Currently working clinically within an NHS dental practice for the duration of the post
- Educational qualification such as a postgraduate certificate, diploma or master's in medical education) or demonstration of equivalent experience
- Previous appointment as a Dental Foundation trainer, Programme Director or equivalent
- Previous appointment as a Dental Foundation trainer, Programme Director or equivalent
Desirable
- Can demonstrate active involvement in professional bodies/LDA/MCN
Experience

- Previous experience and training in clinical and educational supervision role
- Demonstrates a track record of delivery of required tasks to stated timelines, e.g. practice visits, portfolio monitoring etc
- Trained and experienced in Equality and Diversity in the last 3 years
- Awareness of funding streams for postgraduate education
- Good understanding of current health social and education policy
- Awareness of the recommendations of Advancing Dental Care
Desirable
