Job summary
The Quality Improvement Fellowship for Supported Return to Training (SuppoRTT) and traineewellbeing is an innovative position for postgraduate doctors in training with an interest ineducational delivery, quality improvement and NHS leadership. We have up to four posts available inthe Thames Valley and Wessex regions to work with the Professional Support and Wellbeing Service(PSWS) enhancing the SuppoRTT programme and/or wellbeing initiatives for postgraduate doctors intraining in the Wessex and Thames Valley regions.
The successful fellows will work with the Associate Dean for the Professional Support and WellbeingService (PSWS) across the Wessex and Thames Valley in partnership with the administration teams.The fellows will identify and lead on quality improvement work targeted at improving postgraduatedoctor's experience of local wellbeing services and/or returning to training after a period of absence.The fellows will play an important role in enhancing links between postgraduate doctors, theWessex/Thames Valley PSWS team, Trusts and educators within the two regions and improvingengagement with the PSWS and SuppoRTT programme.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity and we are seeking dynamic self-starters, eager to adapt and learn with excellent communication, leadership and management skills.
The role requires interest across and a desire to learn about this innovative work programme. The candidate should have knowledge of and an interest in the UK healthcare systems and the culture, structures and policies of the NHS and arm's length bodies. It is desirable for the candidate to have an understanding of wellbeing services for postgraduatedoctors and the impact of returning to training after time out.
Time commitmentThe post will require commitment of between 7 - 16 hours (1 or 2 days) per week to the fellowship role with the remaining time devoted to clinical work within the Wessex and Thames Valley regions. Less than full time trainees (LTFT) are also encouraged to apply.
The role will run for 12 months on a secondment basis and applicants will need to hold an employment contract with a Trust or GP lead employer in Wessex or Thames Valley for their clinical work for the duration of the fellowship.
About us
This role will support postgraduate doctors in training across the Wessex/Thames Valley regions and will be part of the PSWS team. The role will be home based with some occasional meetings at the Wessex offices in Southampton or Thames Valley offices in Oxford. An induction an ongoing mentoring will be provided. Successful applicants are also able to access leadership courdes as part of the fellowship.
