Job summary
The Deputy Head of School role is part of the senior educational faculty of the School of Anaesthesia and ICM. The School covers a wide geographical and educational landscape, and it is a period of significant change with the NHSE merger, new curricula, new posts and changes to workforce. The Deputy will be involved in all aspects of School management working in combination with the existing Heads of School and, on occasion deputising for them, to ensure excellent communication, support and availability across the entirety of the School's responsibilities.
The role is evolving but will allow elements of personalisation dependent upon the successful candidate's background, skills and interests.
Main duties of the job
The Deputy Head of School will work with the Joint Heads of School to cover all aspects of the school functions responsible to the Deputy Dean and Postgraduate Dean.

Essential
- Considerable experience of working with doctors in training in an educational context within Anaesthesia/ICM
- Excellent working knowledge of the curriculum requirements for Anaesthesia, ICM and ACCS (Anaesthesia)
- Understanding of developments involving the relevant Colleges/Faculties, professional bodies, related NHS organisations and regulatory bodies including an understanding of healthcare/multi-professional workforce matters
Desirable
- Active involvement in, and up to date with, appraisal processes
- Experience of clinical and educational leadership and innovation, including managing a multi-professional team" from the essential column to the desirable column
Skills and Abilities

- Demonstrable leadership skills and an ability to influence and motivate others
