Job summary

The Knowledge Specialist will lead on delivery of a range of activities related to capturing, disseminating, using and sharing knowledge and supporting internal and external partnerships within HEE's Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) programme.

This post is part of a new, growing team, working nationally and virtually. You will be a part of developing an expanded Knowledge Management (KM) function for HEE by providing KM activities specifically for the TEL programme.

It offers the chance to exercise and develop a portfolio of complementary skills in Knowledge Management and Technology Enhanced Learning including IT, communications and project management skills. It also offers opportunities to work with a range of stakeholders including a national network of knowledge staff and working alongside the regional Library and Knowledge Service teams and as part of a wider network of informaticians as part of the HEE Information Strategy.

Main duties of the job

This role is to provide dedicated Knowledge Management (KM) support to the Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) programme.

KM activity may include a range of ongoing and maintenance activities, as well as the delivery of specific projects. Examples include:

  • Facilitating HEE staff to share their knowledge and learning from experience
  • Capturing information and making it available in a range of physical and virtual formats and environments
  • Maintaining and updating databases and repositories of knowledge and evidence resources
  • Finding appropriate evidence and literature and summarising it for HEE staff

Secondments

This role will be offered to applicants on a secondment basis only, agreement should be obtained from their employer prior to submitting the application.

Salary Progression Applicants will commence at the bottom of Band 6 with a full-time starting salary of £32,306, with pay step increases after 2 years service and 5 years' service. For posts based in Inner London, the above salaries will include the additional supplement of 20% of basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £4,608 per annum and a maximum payment of £7,097 per annum. This is offered in accordance with NHS Terms and Conditions and is based on office location.

  • Educated to postgraduate level in a knowledge management / information management specialty (or equivalent experience)

Skills and abilities

  • Literature Searching Skills - demonstrates ability to carry out searches on various databases and summarise/ present results
  • Critical appraisal: using frameworks such as CASP (or similar frameworks and evaluation tools)
  • Using interventions/ frameworks such as Retrospectives and knowledge capture events (or similar, e.g. any techniques involving group facilitation)
  • Able to build effective networks with a broad range of stakeholders across a range of teams
  • Able to work effectively as part of a virtual/ geographically dispersed team, including communicating virtually via MS Teams and other means

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Presenting or delivering training to groups of staff - tailoring and presenting to meet the needs of the group
