Job summary

The Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) team provides a range of services that enables the application of learning technologies and simulation-based education within Health Education England (HEE) and across the health and care workforce to support education and training to improve patient care.

The TEL team is an enabling function, supporting the health and care workforce to use a variety of technologies and techniques to improve patient care by the provision of digital learning opportunities. The TEL Platforms Service Team works to develop the platform products which underpin the digital learning offer by providing access to millions of users.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a national function as part of an innovative and fast-paced portfolio of work. Duties will be challenging and varied, with plenty of opportunities to develop your skills and put your personal mark on this programme of work.

Main duties of the job

  • Using visual methods such as screen designs, flow maps and selectable prototypes to communicate ideas and help the team reach decisions.
  • Developing and maintain the LH Design Library based on the NHS design system.
  • Maintain design consistency, employing good information management principles.
  • Working closely with the User Researcher to gain feedback to inform design decisions.
  • Writing user stories for the designs.
  • Creating and iterate on designs from concept through to completion.
  • Specification writing for developers within the Figma template.
  • Provide clear and accurate visual and written instruction to developers to ensure that features agreed upon by the Service team are accurately reproduced.
  • Facilitate discussion, decision-making, and technical restrictions (setting up Amigos for example.)
  • Testing your designs against what has gone live and give feedback.
  • Employing your knowledge and experience of the Government Digital Service Manual https://www.gov.uk/service-manual to ensure the product meets required standards.
  • Using the full range of tools and agile ceremonies to nurture and support an effective and self-organising team.
  • Work with stakeholders and colleagues in stakeholder management roles to inform requirements.
  • Support team members and advocate a positive, problem-solving culture that is focused on high quality and high velocity.
  • Do everything possible to ensure the business and end-users are satisfied with the product.

About us

The role will form part of a multi-disciplinary agile service team essentially bridging the gap between the user, the development team, and key business stakeholders. The role is to make digital products and services usable, enjoyable, and accessible for humans.

The post holder will be expected to be flexible and will likely be required to work across the many different areas of Health Education England as business priorities and demands change.

Salary Progression
