AdvancedPractitioners (APs) enhance capacity and capability within multi-professional teams by supporting existing and more established roles. They help to improve clinical continuity, provide more patient-focused care, enhance the multi-professional team and help to provide safe, accessible and high-quality care for patients.
The Advanced Practice Training Programme Lead's will be experienced Advanced Clinical Practitioners who understand the HEE AP Multi professional Framework and can support all aspects of training, supervision, job roles and workforce need for Advanced Practitioners.The role is to work with and support the Regional Faculty for Advancing Practice in leading the delivery of a wide range of functions, aligned to the Health Education England mandate.
Main duties of the job
The Regional Faculty for Advancing Practice is looking for Advanced Clinical Practitioners to support the development and delivery of AP roles within a variety of healthcare settings. They will report to the Regional Faculty for Advancing Practice and support National Centre for Advancing Practice work on APs.
There are up to three positions open to application.This is a 12-month Secondment for 1 day a week in one of the following clinical areas:
- Maternity/Women's Health
- Surgery/Ophthalmology
- Critical Care
The Faculty for Advancing Practice reserves the right to amend the speciality areas listed above to comprehensively cover the AP requirements across the South East region and match the attributes of the applicants.

Working with the Regional Faculty for Advancing Practice and reporting to the Supervision and Assessment Lead, the position will work in all aspects of AP training.They will liaise with Universities, Trusts, Primary Care, Supervisors and Trainees to support a safe learning environment that creates the best experience for everyone involved.
The post-holder may attend meetings appropriate to their specialty in order to understand the AP programme information available to aid in their work. This may include identifying recruitment opportunities and advising Trust Leads regarding workforce planning.
They may be instrumental in improving standards of Supervision for AP trainees and escalate a support plan to trainees who require remediation.
This is an evolving role that allows the successful candidate to shape their role within the regional Faculty objectives and be innovative to have a positive effect upon future AP learners within the region.
To oversee AP programme management and advise the Regional Faculty for Advancing Practice on the following matters:
- Specialty-specific matters and trainee/trainer concerns.
- Support Recruitment to AP training posts and programmes.
- To use educational resources to support learners within programmes to fulfil their full potential.
- AP programme management, including assessments, progression, support and remediation, trainee management, careers support and less than full-time training.
To work closely with the Regional Faculty for Advancing Practice to support implementation of the HEE Quality Framework:
- To emphasise the importance and promote the development of a quality learning environment for all learners.
