Job summary
The NHS Consortium for Global Health provides a point of access to the UK's national health organisations, including the major NHS executive agencies and public bodies. We work with the UK government to foster effective peer-to-peer health alliances at all levels across UK and partner countries that strengthen health systems, and advance health protection, health equity, and global health diplomacy.
The role of the NHS Consortium has been to initiate and develop health system-to-system dialogue by providing specialist advisory support to programme design and delivery, including the monitoring, evaluation and cross-programme learning of the BHP. The NHS Consortium has also supported the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) with programme level strategic decision-making through technical knowledge-based advice and recommendations. Additionally, the NHS Consortium has facilitated global health diplomacy through senior stakeholder system-to-system dialogue with an ambition for this dialogue to evolve into longer term institutional health partnerships.
The NHS Consortium is now positioning itself to diversify its funding base and expand its global operations. This will require effective stakeholder engagement and identifying and realising new business development opportunities for sustainable growth.
Main duties of the job
The NHS Consortium (NHSC) has an exciting vacancy for a Senior Health Systems Adviser. The Adviser will have a central role to play in ensuring that (a) programmes deliver against health and development objectives and (b) a consortium of NHS organisations are able to effectively support delivery of this activity (c) NHSC business development opportunities are identified and pursued. The Senior Health Systems Adviser will be a primary source of technical support to the in-country stakeholders, such as FCDO health advisers at UK diplomatic missions. It will also link them with expertise from and via the NHS Consortium as appropriate and requested.
The post holder will also have a key role advising the relevant programme governance structures (both in the UK and in-country) and its central programme team, ensuring effective oversight and quality assurance of delivery of the programme. They will advise and support in-country staff in their engagement with government stakeholders and delivery partners, providing strategic health guidance as required and ensuring that delivery aligns to health policies in-country. Finally, the post holder will actively contribute to the expansion of the NHSC's operating framework and global footprint by identifying and responding to new funding and programme development opportunities and partnerships.

- have experience in business case development, bid writing and generally leading or contributing to the pursuit of new business development opportunities.
- need to be highly motivated and a self-starter, able to work independently and in complex and changing environments.
