Job summary

This exciting 9 month Maternity Cover, secondment/fixed term opportunity has become available, and the successful appointee will join the HEE South West Workforce Transformation Team to lead workforce and education transformation and deliver the function of System Relationship Management.

This role will provide a highly rewarding work environment and enable the successful appointee to make a difference to both front line services and the considerable workforce agenda through delivery of system level programmes of work.

The successful appointee will need to be self-directed and be accountable for their own programmes of work, alongside leading and motivating others. As a team we are committed to providing impact at a system level so candidates will need to have experience of capturing outputs and building upon best practice to support continual service improvement.

Main duties of the job

Working closely with external partners across Integrated Care System`s in Gloucestershire and Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG), you will be responsible for leading a portfolio of activities which delivers against HEE's national and regional workforce and education transformation ambitions. Your portfolio will include building and maintaining key working relationships with two Integrated Care Systems in the South West in order to support their response to the workforce agenda, as well as engaging and delivering key regional programmes of work, which includes HEE`s response to support the national Elective Recovery Programme.

The Covid-19 pandemic highlighted several workforce opportunities and challenges across the South West, with Workforce and Education Transformation expertise critical in supporting developing integrated care systems and now, elective care recovery. The South West Workforce Transformation Team is a highly motivated and exciting team that embraces an authentic team working methodology and welcomes the change that comes from innovative thinking and constructive challenge.

The successful appointee will currently work remotely, or in a hybrid model, using MS Teams, following current NHS guidance until such time circumstances will require frequent travel throughout the region and sometimes nationally. The nature of our programmes of work necessitates the formation of strong relationships with external stakeholders across our ICSs to help them determine their workforce needs and to harness their support in embedding workforce and education transformation programmes. To deliver this you will work collaboratively with NHSE/I, Social Care, Primary Care, education providers and other key partners to drive the delivery of strategies across the region, and to ensure the delivery of the agreed outcomes within set timescales.

The successful appointee will be a workforce subject matter expert with project/programme management experience or a highly experienced programme manager with experience in workforce and education transformation, have experience of partnership working across a wide range of stakeholders and be an excellent communicator. You will have experience in leading and managing teams and a detailed understanding of the NHS environment and its challenges.

Secondments

Applicants from within the NHS will be offered on a secondment basis only, agreement should be obtained from their employer prior to submitting the application.

Salary Progression

Applicants will commence at the bottom of Band 8c with a full-time starting salary of £65,664, with a pay step increase after 5 years service. These salaries are offered in accordance with NHS Terms and Conditions and the HEE Pay Progression Policy and are subject to annual cost of living review.

  • Educated to master's level or higher or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in a relevant specialist area for an extended period.
  • Extensive knowledge of a range of specialist areas in a relevant field of expertise acquired through post graduate diploma/ master`s degree or equivalent experience gained over an extended period of time to enable highly developed subject matter expertise.
