Optimisation Implementation Lead

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Workforce Optimisation Team, on our Pensions Optimisation Project. We are working with NHS Pensions to compile a comprehensive library of process maps and instructions relating to all Pensions related tasks, potential later phases to involve streamlining and Lean review. You will be responsible for running of your project area, ensuring that goals are met. You and your team will work with the project stakeholders to provide confidence and reassurance, during the fast-paced circumstances of this project. You should be skilled in process mapping, LEAN methodology and have the skills to support Pensions colleagues through this process to reach a successful outcome.

This role is available on a fixed term or secondment basis, with a contract length of 18 months. This position is currently hybrid working, with a main base of Newcastle, Fleetwood or Wakefield. Main duties of the job

You will work as an Optimisation Implementation Lead, to focus on project managing a defined section of the project. You will be responsible for:

  • Managing the project area you are responsible for on a day-to-day basis, ensuring goals, deliverables and deadlines are adhered to within the specified tolerances of time, cost, quality, scope, risk and benefits.
  • Consistently working towards producing a result capable of achieving the benefits defined in Benefits Realisation.
  • Providing project updates to the team as appropriate.
  • Building excellent working relationships.
  • Creating and managing guidance and process instructions for implementing and governing changes, covering risk, performance, and governance to drive effective, compliant outcomes.
  • Effective problem solving, using logic and imagination to make sense of situations and develop a solution that works.
  • Managing direct reports, providing the appropriate support, and ensuring effective implementation of policies relating to appraisal, absence management, disciplinary, grievance, performance monitoring, and personal development plan.

In this role, you are accountable for:

1. Supporting and reporting to the WSD Optimisation Lead.

2. Coordinate and manage multiple implementation projects to ensure a successful implementation for both NHSBSA and organisations using NHS Jobs, ESR, Pensions and HR Shared Services.

3. Build excellent working relationships internally and externally, with system and service suppliers, customers and other organisations.

4. Be forward thinking and continuously reviewing the effectiveness of the implementation, changes and identifying improvements. This includes working with other business areas and stakeholders.

5. Ensure engagement from colleagues during the implementation of change, providing clear direction, updates and identification of risks and actions to enable a positive change experience.

6. Encourage an atmosphere of trust and openness based on working together and shared objectives. Utilise high functioning communication skills to encourage a collaborative customer focused approach.

7. Support the implementation of business change, managing risks, issues and actions in line with required standards cross a number of concurrent projects and diverse stakeholder groups.

11. Actively promote and realise the increased use of data analytics within WSD. Demonstrate how we can examine large data sets and uncover hidden patterns, unknown correlations, customer trends and other useful business information to drive improved recruitment experience.

12. Identifying how data across the Workforce Directorate can be shared to provide maximum value and benefit across the Hire to Retire journey.

13. Responsible for working with WSD project teams including with internal and external members, acting as a subject matter expert, driving changes in line with strategy and ensuring business impact of changes has been fully considered.

14. Champion the use of NHSJ across the NHS and beyond demonstrating tangible improvements in usage and uptake during implementation.

15. Deliver excellent customer satisfaction, evidenced through CSAT results, ensuring improvements are identified and acted upon where required.

16. Work with HR Shared Services, ESR and other BSA services to ensure services work together to promote the Hire to Retire journey through the Optimisation work stream.

17. Be aware of policy changes and consider impact on WSD services and systems and work with relevant parties.
