Job summary
As an Associate Product Owner, you will work across multidisciplinary teams in an agile and user centric way to support delivering quality products and services that better meet the needs of users and the organisation, whilst helping to ensure they are delivered and embedded in a seamless manner.
You will support the Product Owner in making key decisions relating to the design and iteration of products or services, and support delivery teams with your knowledge of user needs and business goals to define scopes and priorities and solve problems for our users and stakeholders. This may be over multiple products or services so you will have excellent stakeholder management skills and be able to build trusting relationships with colleagues.
You will be passionate about working collaboratively, helping others solve problems and enjoy delivering within a fast paced and complex organisation. You will be proactive and open to learning new skills and techniques to support your development in the Product Owner profession.

In this role, you are accountable for
1. Supporting the successful delivery of user centred products, including inputting to the product vision and roadmap from inception through to delivery of the product(s) covering all stages of the product lifecycle.
2. Assist the Product Owner in maintaining the product backlog.
3. Ensure product backlog items are written to a high standard, working with the delivery team and stakeholders to refine and estimate backlog items, ensuring acceptance criteria are captured accurately and clearly understood.
4. Assist the Product Owner in facilitating stakeholder workshops to gather and refine requirements for product backlog items and occasionally facilitate these sessions without supervision.
5. Alongside the Product Owner, input into the product roadmap, ensuring the vision and KPIs are being delivered.
6. Have oversight of project costs and engage with budget holders where necessary, escalating issues that may have a cost impact.
7. Provide guidance and support to colleagues involved in user testing and training. Assisting with the coordination of UAT.
8. Support Product Owners to prepare for and take part in service standard assessments. Deliver training as a subject matter expert to a diverse stakeholder group, when required.
9. Assist with recruitment and selection as required.
10. Continuous learning and development of a variety of Product Ownership skills and techniques, the wider organisation and services and technical knowledge.
11. Collaborate with the Product Owner community and other professions within the NHSBSA to share knowledge, build relationships, align in best practice and enable continuous improvement of policies/processes within the Product Owner community.
12. Champion the Product profession throughout the wider organisation, educating colleagues and building understanding.
