Job summary
Clinical Advisors work closely with caseworkers reviewing evidence to:
Provide clinical advice to non-clinical colleagues undertaking post payment verification on the provision of GOS services
Occasionally undertake Clinical Site Visits to practices in connection to a GOS contract
This role is to temporarily fulfil part time maternity cover till November 2025 and is for 1 day a week. You must be a current GOC Optometrist registrant or be eligible for the renewal of your registration. Post-registration NHS primary care experience is essential for this role as well as previous experience conducting GOS post payment verification.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role is to respond to the Post Payment Verification escalations from non-clinical case workers in a timely manner. This will involve the use of the Case Management System and reviewing any disputes that are invoked by GOS contractors. In addition your role could also but not exclusively involve the following:
- Supporting, mentoring, motivating and advising casework teams in non-line management relationships.
- Responding to PPV escalations from Case Workers on the Case Management System
- Reviewing disputed PPV claims from contractors
- Working proactively across clinical and casework teams to deliver the services' goals and objectives and review and monitor NHS BSA policy and information provision.
- Delivering the goals and objectives of own team and others. At times this will include taking direction and priorities from non-clinical Leads and Managers.
- Providing advice on all clinical matters to external clients and customers and to all sections of NHS BSA internally.
- Providing consistent, up to date and informed clinical oversight and advice on the collection, storage, analysis and provision of clinical and related data and information internally and externally.
- Deputising for other NHS BSA Clinical Advisors when necessary and appropriate.
