Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Analyst Programmer to join the ESR Tech team at the NHS Business Services Authority.

Join our team if you have a strong grasp and interest in the Electronic Staff Record (ESR) and the NHS. In this exciting role, you'll play a crucial part in developing and testing integration software for the ESR program. Your tasks will involve transforming system scripts from Perl to Python, crafting new scripts based on customer needs, and meticulously testing these solutions. Not only will you create reports for senior management, but you'll also get to present your findings. You'll mentor users and guide junior team members while collaborating with stakeholders and suppliers to solve challenges. Main duties of the job

  • Provide support for existing interfaces, including prompt response to queries and identification of errors or issues
  • Apply urgent fixes or agree on developments to resolve identified errors or issues
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders of all levels
  • Design, build, and test new software based on given requirements specifications, ready for user testing
  • Respond to queries regarding NHS Interface Hub infrastructure, identifying and addressing errors or issues promptly
  • Provide technical and non-technical support to users via Service Desk, email, telephone, and meetings
  • Collaborate with employing organisations to analyse interface requirements and develop application software to meet those requirements
  • Work with the ESR Central Team, ESR Supplier, and other stakeholders to ensure adequate specification and test plans of interfaces
  • Produce and maintain system documentation for both internal and external use

Job purpose:

  • To provide support of production interfaces
  • To design, develop, unit test, system test and integration test new or enhanced interfaces
  • To support, maintain and develop the application software running on the NHS Interface Hub which supports the processing of Interfaces.
  • Resolve any issues relating to interface testing and data problems
  • To assist with user testing of interfaces
  • Provide guidance, process and procedure information to end user project teams during interface design, development and testing
  • To evaluate the end user interface requirements and produce technical designs and specifications
