We're working in a hybrid way, spending time both home and office working. This position can be based from either of our offices in Greater Manchester or Newcastle upon Tyne.

Main duties of the job
Solution Design extends the traditional Technical Architect in a fusion that includes architecture, micro-services, API integrations and standards. The growth and innovation provided by our cloud providers challenge us to think and rethink optimal solutions that drive down the cost whilst providing better services.
You will work with user researchers, user experience designers, business analysts, testers and developers to create available and performant applications deployed in the cloud that are iterated, prototyped, continuously developed and tested in an Agile manner.
You will also be a part of our Solutions Design Community of Practice. As a solution designer, you will collaboratively identify technical challenges to create the standards that will enable the NHSBSA Digital team to create consistent, testable, and modular services rapidly.

- Understanding user and business needs and be confident in translating them into the design of products and services.
- Design and prototype solutions, interfaces and interactions. Work with designers to simplify complex transactions and explain clearly to non-solution designers the reasons for design choices.
- Work closely with user researchers to assist with testing and analysing research results.
- Work with other designers and architects to maintain a library of standard design patterns and promote its use across digital services and the wider organisation
- Lead in the proposing of changes and sharing of good practices that can be adopted to drive design standards, ensuring appropriate governance for contribution to the development of products and services.
- Follow and support methods and standards to achieve a high level of accessibility for the end user in our products
- Develop frameworks, setting standards and principles and draw up accompanying policies to ensure consistency and high quality services
