You will be responsible delivering high quality customer service and providing a range of financial and reporting services for the department and our stakeholders. Main duties of the job

We are looking for people who have well developed analytical skills, are methodical in their approach to their work and have team management experience.

  • Experience in a finance department
  • Well developed report writing skills
  • Contributes to the management and performance of the Pensions Financial Operations and Allocations/Pensions Annual Allowance Compensation Charge Scheme team function, providing leadership and direction as required. This will include recruitment, appraisal, absence management and training of staff members
  • Contributes to the development and planning of the workload of the team. Makes daily adjustments to plans in order to meet organisational requirements and to ensure that all financial information is processed in accordance with procedures and legislation in an accurate and timely manner
  • Investigate and resolve complex enquiries providing assistance and help as required
  • Contributing to the preparation of the Pension Scheme accounts, providing appropriate creditors, debtors, and other statutory information
  • Experience in investigation, resolution and reconciliation of financial accounts
  • Cultivating the services provided as a centre of excellence, achieved by overseeing the development of staff, services and systems in line with best practice, new initiatives, quality improvements and on-going consultation with key stakeholders
  • Effective communication skills
  • Advanced IT application skills (MS Excel in particular)

Manage the Allocations and PAACCS team accounting information and processes ensuring that

  • Bank reconciliations NHS Pensions, Injury Benefits and PAACCS and control/suspense reconciliations are undertaken within deadlines.
  • The prompt allocation of employer contributions and Invoice repayments undertaken within deadlines.
  • The investigation and resolution of unallocated pension contributions
  • The investigation and resolution of payroll rejections for the PAACCS Scheme
  • Significant anomalies are escalated to the Pensions Financial Operations Manager for further action when necessary.

  • 5 GCSEs including English Language and Mathematics at grade C (or equivalent) or above
  • Fully qualified or studying towards AAT

Desirable

  • Studying towards CCAB qualification
  • Finance/Business Diploma or equivalent
  • NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in supervisory/management discipline
