The role of a Resource, Forecasting and Planning Manager is available within the Workforce Management Team within NHS Retirement Services.

Main duties of the job
As the Resource, Forecasting and Planning Manager within NHS Retirement Services, you will be responsible for;
- developing a high performing Workforce Management Team to enable the delivery of NHS Retirement Services objectives
- driving and leading a pro-active approach to planning and forecasting and that regular and timely reviews take place to maximise performance
- Working with colleagues at all levels across NHS Workforce Services, Retirement Services and the wider NHSBSA to ensure effective working and relationships are maintained
- strategic input at times into business planning and providing key insight so that budget pressures and savings are understood clearly, along with rationale for both

Key Working Relationships
- Working with the Senior Management Team to ensure that planning and resource management is delivered effectively working in collaboration with key contacts across these services.
- Develop a strong partnership with Senior Service Delivery Managers (SDM) and have responsibility for monitoring and planning outputs and KPIs and targets.
- To manage Workforce Planning Managers and ensure the WFM Team is effective, working directly across the team where appropriate.
Staff Management
- Establish and review areas of responsibility for this role and the Workforce Planning Managers ensuring that these are established and clear.
- Ensure that resource on WFM Team is maintained and that recruitment needs are identified when required and that the skills mix within the team is appropriate.
- Responsible for teams personal development. Provide coaching and guidance on management issues whilst also ensuring line managers remain fully empowered in a supportive environment.
- Deliver operational objectives through performance management of direct reports (DRs) and through carrying out process improvement projects.
- Demonstrates clear leadership and management skills and the ability to influence and persuade others and leads teams in the delivery of business objectives and strategy.
- Responsible for setting clear objectives for direct reports and carrying out regular ORO reviews, developing and coaching direct reports to assist in delivery of business objectives and broaden their experience.
- Ensure a balance of workloads and responsibility exists across the team with regular reviews in place.
- Demonstrate support and guidance through the full application of all supporting tools and policies in place HR planning, Absence Management policy, Health and Safety and all other applicable policies.
