About us

Currently the position of committee member is unpaid. However, NICE will pay reasonable out-of-pocket expenses, including train fares and hotel costs when necessary, for attending committee meetings as set out in NICE's non-staff reimbursement policy.

Committee members employed on Agenda for Change terms and conditions will be reimbursed in line with their current substantive salaries, up to a maximum of £300 per day (more than 4 hours) or £150 per half day (up to and including 4 hours). NICE will reimburse the individual's employer for any salary payments made upon receipt of an invoice. These rates also apply to committee members engaged outside of Agenda for Change but in an equivalent role.

Other expenses

NICE recognises that in some circumstances individuals will need to arrange for carers or support workers to accompany them to a meeting, or to take over unpaid caring responsibilities while they are at a meeting - this includes childcare or care of a family member with a disability or other additional needs.

Time Commitment

Committee members are expected to attend approximately 9 day-long Committee Meetings a year during guidance development. Our Committees' Meetings are predominantly virtual, with a small number of Meetings held in a hybrid format or as in-person Meetings at our London or Manchester offices. Some of those Meetings may be scheduled to occur on adjacent days.

In addition to attending committee meetings other input is required from committee members.
