We have a vacancy for a Programme Director who will lead three key programmes at NICE - Methods, Research, and Health Economics. The teams sit within the Science, Evidence and Analytics (SEA) Directorate. The SEA directorate is responsible for ensuring that NICE develops and applies robust and efficient methods and uses the best available evidence in its guidance to support health and care decision makers.
The role is a 12-month fixed term contract or secondment to cover maternity leave. Candidates seeking secondment should seek approval from their substantive organisation before applying.
The role can be based at either of NICE's offices; London (Stratford) or Manchester (Piccadilly).
Main duties of the job
Reporting to NICE's Chief Scientific Officer, the Programme Director is responsible for:
Methods: Delivering and embedding new and updated methods in NICE's operations to ensure that the methods applied in the production of NICE guidance are robust and efficient, take account of societal preferences and are updated as needed to reflect innovation in healthcare interventions and policies.
Research: Delivering and sustaining a programme of research using external funding to ensure NICE's international leadership and influence in methods. This includes a portfolio of grant-funded research projects, funded mainly through Horizon Europe, and NICE's HTA Lab, funded through the Voluntary scheme for branded medicines Pricing, Access and Growth (VPAG) Investment Fund. A key focus for the HTA Lab is not only developing solutions to complex HTA issues but ensuring that practical solutions are developed and successfully implemented in NICE's work.
