Adviser

NICE – The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence

The closing date is 01 May 2024

Job summary

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) exists to help improve the quality, sustainability and productivity of health and social care in England. We have an international reputation for our approach to producing guidance and information on effective practice that supports better decisions and helps the health and care system to prioritise its investment. We are one of the world leaders in the work that we do!

NICE Advice provides a fee-based service for developers of health technologies - including devices, diagnostics, digital, artificial intelligence or pharmaceuticals - and international organisations. Our confidential advice helps the life sciences industry develop high quality evidence generation plans and economic modelling that capture what they will need to demonstrate for a NICE evaluation. Additionally, the team provides companies with insights concerning market access pathways in England and consultancy services to our international audience.

As an Adviser, you will have a key role in developing expert advice. Advisers should have the ability to work across the full range of NICE Advice services, although specialist skillsets (such as health economics, AI/digital or market access) may mean that some team members are more focussed in particular areas.

Base: London or Manchester - Hybrid working

Contract type: 1 permanent and 1 fixed term (maternity cover - 9 months).

Interviews will be held in person, at our Manchester office, on 13th May 2024.

Main duties of the job

The role will require an understanding of the design of clinical trials and the principles of cost effectiveness modelling.

The post holder will:

  • Review briefing materials provided by clients, assess the completeness of the evidence base, identify potential gaps, and highlight important issues for discussion with other team members and experts.
  • Draft formal advice reports, review comments, and revise report drafts, taking account of possibly conflicting views.
  • Present at meetings with clients, summarising any key issues identified in a manner which facilitates discussion.
  • Demonstrate adaptability in terms of accommodating customer requirements and delivering client focussed solutions.

Organise and plan your workload, which covers multiple projects at different stages, often with conflicting deadlines.
