The Associate Director, Commercial role will lead our ambition for our paid-for service delivery to be more commercially focused and informed by our client's needs.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will develop and implement a commercial business model and foster a customer-centric commercial mindset across the NICE Advice team. The business model will need to be continuously iterated and renewed to ensure that the service offering responds to client needs in a constantly evolving regulatory, evaluation and access environment. The role will also have oversight of the operations functions required to run NICE Advice efficiently and effectively, including project management and financial reporting.

A technical understanding of the services that NICE Advice provides is essential and therefore the post holder will be integrated into the delivery of the project work.

NICE Advice provides a fee-based service for developers of health technologies - including devices, diagnostics, digital, artificial intelligence or pharmaceuticals - and international organisations. NICE Advice provides a single point of contact within NICE for the life sciences industry to facilitate a clear and simple customer journey from clinical development to market access. We provide advice, insights and education with the ultimate aim of supporting technologies through NICE guidance to reach patients. Our confidential advice helps the life sciences industry develop high quality evidence generation plans and economic modelling that capture what they will need to demonstrate for a NICE evaluation. Additionally, the team provides companies with insights concerning market access pathways in England and consultancy services to our international audience.

The team's objectives are to:

  • provide high quality advice to life science companies to enable swift progress through NICE's evaluation programmes
  • identify health technologies which will have significant population health benefits and to engage early to ensure potential barriers to market access have been identified and addressed
  • enhance NICE's international reputation and reach through provision of high-quality consultancy services to an international audience
  • support the core work of NICE through generation of income from paid-for-services

  • Doctorate or Master's degree with demonstrable postgraduate specialist experience in a relevant discipline or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through experience and further training/development

Desirable

  • A degree in a health or science-related subject
  • Qualification in business or finance, such as an MBA
