Job summary

The NHS Counter Fraud Authority (NHSCFA) is the national body responsible for all matters relating to the prevention, detection and investigation of economic crime across the NHS. Further information about our work and annual plan for delivering this is available on our website.

The post holder will provide management of the provision of a secure, effective and efficient environment for the receipt of information and the development of criminal intelligence relating to the NHS and wider health group.

The post holder will provide management of a robust and effective intelligence function which will ensure that NHSCFA is Intelligence led.

Main duties of the job

Act as the Single Point of Contact for the providing and receiving receipt of highly sensitive Intelligence (i.e. terrorism) and sensitive information sharing agreements as may be required.

To oversee and manage the intelligence flows between Crimestoppers and the Information and Intelligence Unit and provide advice and training to Crimestoppers staff. To ensure the protection of sources as required by law.

To oversee the crime analysis work of the Central Intelligence Unit (e.g. those from the National Intelligence Model tactical suite), providing inference from that work to inform the development of coherent crime reduction strategies across the full range of NHSCFA statutory responsibilities - making recommendations for intervention as appropriate.

To manage, co-ordinate and implement intelligence development projects, making recommendations to support the prioritisation and development of a diverse range of crime reduction activities and identifying gaps in intelligence which cannot be filled by analysis

  • Significant demonstrable experience of undertaking intelligence and analysis work including managing and developing staff within an intelligence environment
  • Experience of staff management including career development, with demonstrable ability to delegate authority
  • Demonstrable ability to prioritise work effectively Demonstrate ability to understand and apply strategies and policies in place to counter fraud and corruption and deal with intelligence issues within the NHS.
  • Considerable personal initiative with the ability to work independently, lead and work as part of a team.
  • Demonstrable ability to tackle a number of diverse tasks and be able to prioritise and manage work accordingly whilst working to tight deadlines

Specialist Knowledge

Essential

  • The law and procedures relating to the investigation, prosecution and management of fraud and corruption in the NHS and wider health group. E.g. ECHR, RIPA, DPA ,PACE, The National Intelligence Model
  • Criminal intelligence and analysis
