Job summary
In this Clinical Lead role, you will join
avariedpool of clinicians from different professions, working on
products and services across NHS England's Transformation Directorate. You will
play a key role in shaping the safe delivery of national programmes to provide
clear benefits for citizens and patients, and support clinicians to provide
better care.
Our Clinical Leads provide the framework and
direction for our Clinical Informaticians working across programmes and
involved in large scale change, as well as providing a key clinical voice to
programme teams within Transformation Directorate.
The post holder(s) will support internal clinical
safety and assurance activities, and provide oversight of the clinical aspects
of programmes and projects within Transformation Directorate, deputising for
the Senior Clinical Lead across a range of functions.
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will be required to have regular
contact with internal and external stakeholders and will often need to engage
with them over sensitive, complex and contentious issues. You will also be
expected to lead and support other clinicians across the organisation, ensuring
programmes and services have access to appropriate clinical support and are
represented in externally facing Programme Boards, Clinical Reference Panels or
Clinical Advisory Groups.
You will join a multi-professional team of experienced clinicians with a
variety of clinical backgrounds, all of whom have chosen informatics as a
specialist area of expertise. You will be joining the team at an exciting time,
as the role of clinical informaticians becomes more important than ever before
in supporting the safe and effective use of technology across health and social
care services, for the benefit of patients and citizens.

- demonstrable experience of NHS quality improvement frameworks, NHS regulatory and compliance frameworks and their requirements
- demonstrable knowledge of clinical informatics initiatives and a passion for digitisation of the health and care system.
- ability to lead and monitor the ongoing research and development of evidence-based clinical guidelines, that reflect national guidance and ensure safe systems of working across Transformation Directorate.
- ability to effectively lead the clinical governance framework through a strategic understanding of clinical risk and clinical safety, applied through risk assessment and clinical safety methodology; proven ability of monitoring clinical governance processes to facilitate delivery at pace while mitigating and taking managed risks
- demonstrates expert understanding and application of GDPR, Caldicott principles and The Data Protection Act security and confidentiality principles
