Job summary

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and ambitious individual to join the HFEA as the Website Manager.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual who is passionate about all things digital and website management and wants to take ownership of the HFEAs public facing website and clinic portal for professionals

Main duties of the job

You will be managing the day to day running of the HFEA website and Clinic Portal, acting as the link between the communications and IT teams. This will include taking ownership of website to ensure its running smoothly, making improvements and working closely with the communications managers on keeping content updated and displayed in a user friendly way.

You will also work with the social media and digital communications officer to track the websites performance and improve SEO to ensure our content ranks high in search engines.

Reporting to the Head of Engagement, with a dotted line to the IT team, this role is a unique opportunity to ensure that everyone in the UK affected by assisted reproduction receives high quality care and knows where to access unbiased information.

About us

The HFEA offer 27.5 days annual leave per annum, entry into the Civil Service pension scheme and flexible working.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Manage the design and development of the HFEA website and Clinic Portal ensuing they meet the needs of the organisation and the users

Manage the website so it meets the information needs of our audiences and ranks highly in search engines to enable us to be the go-to source for information on fertility treatment

Manage content audits to identify gaps and redundancies in the site content such as missing pages, broken links etc.

Work with the communications team on the development of new content pages ensuring appropriate ways to present information for different audiences

Ensure the HFEAs visual identity is reflected on the website and Clinic Portal and images are used appropriately

Lead on the websites accessibility work to be in line with accessibility regulations

Work with the IT team and developers to test and document upgrades to website

Work with the IT team and developers to identify errors and improvements to create a positive user journey

Manage the digital aspects of specific projects ensuring technical elements of the websites capabilities are taken into account when developing new information

Manage the design and development of any other new system requirements that may affect the website

Responsible for the ongoing development of a digital strategy as part of the wider organisational communications strategy

Qualifications

Essential

  • Formal qualification, evidence of training relevant to the post or equivalent experience in website content management; or communications design techniques
  • Degree level qualification or relevant experience in a communications/IT related subject

Desirable

  • Project management qualification

Experience

Essential

  • High level experience using web content management systems, preferably Umbraco (version 7-8)
  • Ability to use HTML and CSS, including basic experience with 404 and 500 error codes
  • Knowledge and experience of website accessibility, including Government Digital Service standards
  • Excellent experience managing and generating web content and an understanding of search engine optimisation
  • Knowledge of website testing and documentation
  • Experience monitoring and analysing website traffic and metrics using Google analytics

Desirable

  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge/experience of Adobe Creative Suite, and other content creation programmes
  • Experience using screen readers to test content tags and functionality.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the confidence to work with and communicate effectively with people at all levels both inside and outside the organisation
