We have opportunities for caring and compassionate people to join our Care Services Westmorland and Furness team as Support Workers. We currently have vacancies in South Lakes, Furness and Eden areas.

Main duties of the job

Are you interested in supporting Adults in Cumbria? Would you like to be part of our friendly, hardworking teams, making a difference to someone's life?

As a Support Worker you will get the opportunity to know people individually and support their wellbeing through physical and emotional care. You may also assist with medication, providing personal care, and encouraging our people to achieve or maintain independence.

We have opportunities available in Residential Care, Support at Home and Supported Living.

Residential Care

As a Residential Support Worker you can help older adults live their life how they choose and enjoy their later years. Support people to stay active and healthy by encouraging good nutrition and promoting fitness and mobility, as well as supporting emotional wellness.

Support at Home

Our Community Support Workers provide support to people recovering from illness or surgery and those facing a general decline in health. They help prevent unnecessary hospital admissions by enabling care at home. The main goals are to promote independence, help individuals regain skills, and ensure safety while living at home.

Supported Living

Our Community Support Workers empower vulnerable adults, including people with learning disabilities or complex care needs, to access the personalised support they need to live independently in their own homes in the community. Staff work with individuals to build life skills and are led by the individuals interests and priorities.

  • Supporting service users with their hydration and nutritional needs and diet.
  • Administering prescribed medication and treatments (which could include creams and ointments) where a service user is unable to do so in line with the councils agreed policy and procedure.
  • Being aware of behavioural changes in service users that might indicate a health/wellbeing concern
  • Assisting service users with personal hygiene.
  • Throughout all work activities, promote and demonstrate best practice at all times in accordance with policies and procedures whilst ensuring adherence to the Care Quality Commission and other regulatory bodies requirements
  • To use existing and emerging digital and computerised care and support systems to support people in a modern and forward-thinking way.
