Job summary

We have four Occupational Therapy Teams working with children, adults with learning disabilities, adults with disabilities and older people with a mix of qualified and non-OT qualified staff in each Team. We are committed to helping people live easily and safely in the place they call home. We want to use Occupational Therapy to deliver these changes.

Within this role youll be able to blend home/remote working with office-based working. As a full-time member of staff, youll be expected to work 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Thursday and 8:30am to 4:30pm Friday. Part-time hours can be discussed at interview stage.

Main duties of the job

As an OT working within the housing service, you will be responsible for assessing housing applicants environmental needs.

The role will involve working in partnership with housing colleagues to ensure suitable properties are identified for people awaiting adapted housing.

You will also be working closely with the Occupational Therapy Major Adaptation Team to ensure any necessary and appropriate adaptations are identified and recommended to support individuals housing needs.

You will provide support and guidance to the occupational therapy assistant, working within the housing department, to ensure timely processing of housing needs assessments and assist with prioritisation of workload.

You will work with social work colleagues, Housing and Health partners, and equipment providers.

Overall Purpose of Role:

To contribute towards Adult Social Care/Children and Young Peoples Service duties and responsibilities to people with disabilities/older people/children and young people.

Key Job Activities:

Ensures the provision of case records in line with Departmental Guidance on recording standards and the specific information required for the computer referral monitoring system for the Occupational Therapy services and other Departmental statistical returns

Initiates and participates in case conferences/multi-disciplinary meetings in relation to people in receipt of support or who may have need for support

Keeps up to date with technical advances in the provision of new items of equipment designed to assist disabled adults/older people/children and young people and with developments in medical and paramedical techniques
