We are looking for
experienced and solution focused Social Workers to join our Adult Safeguarding
Team in Rutland County Council.
The role of a Social Worker
in Adult Social Care is varied, working with some of the most at risk members
of our Rutland community. You will be
working with adults aged 18+ and will deal with cases requiring you to be
resilient and empathetic.

About the role
As
a Social Worker in our Safeguarding Team you will be responsible for the
following:
To assess the social care needs of Rutland
(adult) residents who are at risk of or experiencing abuse or neglect.
To promote and contribute to the safety and
well-being of all people in the community through the implementation of the
Rutland safeguarding adults practices and procedures and multi-agency risk
management.
To take referrals and process according to
Departmental guidelines, standards and RCC policies. To triage referrals and
where appropriate provide a rapid response where enquiries indicate a level of immediate
risk.
To work in an integrated way with partners
including health and colleagues across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to
conduct enquiries, implement protection plans and promote the rights, freedoms
and outcomes of those supported.
In addition, we can offer
manageable caseloads, with reflective peer practice, CPD sessions and regular 1
to 1 supervision.
The successful applicant for this post will be subject to an enhanced
check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The costs for the DBS and
Social work England registration are paid by us.

To carry out triage of new Safeguarding Adults referrals and to respond to complex
and high-risk adult safeguarding enquiries to ensure that the principles of the Care
Act and specifically Making Safeguarding Personal are adhered to.
To promote and contribute to the safety and well-being of all adults at risk, to prevent
harm and reduce the risk of abuse or neglect to adults with Care and support needs
through the implementation of the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland
safeguarding adults practices and procedures and multi-agency risk management.
To undertake social care assessments (including complex cases) in respect of
Rutland residents and create, review and monitor support or protection plans in
partnership with people who draw on support and their carers. This will include
working with individuals who lack capacity to make decisions for themselves about
their support and accommodation and completing associated reports, primarily
community Deprivation of Liberty Orders and s.21A applications to the required
standard.
Main Responsibilities
1. To prevent harm and reduce the risk of abuse or neglect to adults with care and
support needs. To safeguard adults in a way that supports them to make
choices and have control over the way they want to live.
2. To undertake a range of activities which support the development of
safeguarding plans to ensure that wherever possible the individuals desired
outcomes are met and reviewed. Use legislation, guidance, and reflective social
work practice to ensure the best possible outcomes for adults at risk.
3. You will be required to complete Capacity Assessments and Best Interest
meetings as well as coordinating contributions from other parties and will be
able to demonstrate good report writing skills for submission to Court.
4. Provide professional expertise and advice to practitioners and multi-agency
partners to assist in the development of an effective and high-quality service
that meets the requirements of relevant policies and procedures in compliance
with the Mental Capacity Act and in line with emerging case law.
5. To comply with the National standards and regulations, the Mental Capacity
Act, Deprivations of Liberty standards (DoLS) and the Care Act to ensure the
highest quality of support to service users.
6. To triage referrals and where appropriate provide a rapid response where
enquiries indicate a level of risk.
7. To work in an integrated way with colleagues and other health and social care
professionals to ensure the best and most seamless transition for those
accessing support. To attend professional meetings and develop positive
working relationships with our partner agencies.
8. To maintain accurate and timely assessment and case records in accordance
with Directorate and Service standards.
9. To fully participate and engage in the development of Adult Social care services
through effective team working and maintaining professional knowledge, skills
and competence.
10. To ensure service delivery is geared to meet ethnic religious, cultural and
linguistic needs of those accessing services including their carers.
11. To act in accordance with the principles set out in the Employee Code of
Conduct and the Councils Values, recognising the duty of all public sector
employees to discharge public functions reasonably and according to the law.
12. Take reasonable care for your health and safety and that of other persons who
