As a Stop Smoking
Specialist Adviser, you will provide proactive technological assessment and
support for customers to help them on a journey to stop smoking. you will work
with population groups with high levels of smoking prevalence. The nature of
the support will vary depending on the needs and readiness of customers and
will include home visits for pregnant women and co-ordinating stop smoking
medication to meet the needs of the client.
You will be joining a
friendly team at Rutland County Council, with additional development and
support from our wider Public Health Team based with Leicestershire County
Council. You will also work with the wider council departments to support with
local tobacco control action plans, including raising awareness of the dangers
of smoking, second-hand smoke and vaping for children.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a
flexible and motivated individual with excellent communication and
organisational skills. To be successful with your application, you will have:
Attained NVQ Level 2
Understanding Health And NVQ Level 3 Certificate for Health Trainers Or
alternative qualifications presented in the person specification.
Relevant experience in a
paid or voluntary capacity with individual and/or community groups.
Knowledge of public health
context, behaviour change and barriers in accessing services.
Good organisational and
project management skills, the ability to work as part of a team as well as
under own initiative without close management supervision.
Experience of building and
maintaining strong working relationships with individuals and organisations
from a variety of backgrounds.
Competent IT skills
including use of Microsoft Office.
Excellent communication
skills, both written and verbal.
Understanding of health behaviour theory and
the approaches/tools that can be used to influence behaviour.
