Consultant in Public Health

Job summary

Buckinghamshire Council is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity to join our welcoming and successful public health team as a Consultant in Public Health.

Working to the Director of Public Health and alongside three other consultants you would bring expertise and enthusiasm as a senior leader in a strong multi-disciplinary and motivated team.

Salary: Up to £97,038 per annum (pro rata)

Contract: Permanent

Working pattern: Part-time (0.8 WTE), flexible working

Job location: Walton Street, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, HP20 1UA

The successful candidate will work across the public health team, Council and wider system as a pro-active and strategic leader with excellent technical and communication skills. The portfolio will focus on health inequalities, including inclusion health and public mental health (including suicide prevention), learning disabilities, autism and domestic abuse. The post holder will work closely with colleagues in the NHS, voluntary sector and our local communities to make a real impact on improving health and wellbeing and reducing inequalities.

Main duties of the job

Essential education/qualifications

You must be included in the GMC Specialist Register with a license to practice/GDC Specialist List/UKPHR (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview) and hold MFPH by examination, by exemption or by assessment. Applicants must be up to date with CPD in accordance with FPH, or other recognised body, requirements.

Essential experience

You must have experience of delivering successful change management programmes and using complex information to explain public health issues to a range of audiences and through a range of media (including both verbal presentations and written reports).

You must have knowledge and experience in quality improvement methods, epidemiological evaluation, and evidence-based public health practice.

Essential personal skills

You must be able to lead and work within teams to deliver outcomes successfully.

You must be able to influence and motivate individuals and organisations within a political system to effectively contribute to the improvement of the publics health and wellbeing.
