We have a 1 fixed term vacancy (22.5 hours) a for Specialist Community Public Health Nurse - Health Visitor with significant experience of infant feeding both clinically & strategically, and are proficient in the delivery of the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative train the trainer model.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties of the job: To lead and support the Health Visiting service and Family Hubs in relation to Infant Feeding, with afocus on Breast Feeding and driving the Family Hub transformation delivery plan. To ensure that all staff within the Health Visiting and Family Hub services deliver high quality, evidence based practice with regards to Infant Feeding. To be a clinical expert with regards to all aspects of Breast Feeding and Infant Feeding.

To support the Service Manager to deliver high performing, evidence based, cost effective services to children, young people and their families

To work alongside the Service Manager leading the Health Visiting and Early Years service with regards to Infant Feeding, Nutrition and Healthy weight

To ensure that all staff within the Health Visiting and Childrens Centre Services deliver high quality, evidence based practise with regards to Infant Feeding health visiting practise

To lead Peer Support Volunteers and provide supervision and training

To lead the delivery of the Pregnancy Birth and Beyond Programme across Redcar & Cleveland in partnership with Midwifery Colleagues

To provide supervision for Infant Feeding key workers in both the Health Visiting and Children Centre Service To provide supervision for Early Years Senior Practitioners who deliver the HENRY Programme in Redcar & Cleveland and to liaise with the National HENRY centre

To be responsible for both the Health Visiting and Childrens centre services to achieve and maintain accreditation with Unicef, ensuring that all staff are trained to the required standards Undertake audits to provide assurance and coordinate and lead the accreditation with the national Unicef programmeKey duties and responsibilities:

1. To ensure the effective and safe delivery of Health Visiting clinical practise in accordance with relevant statutory, policy, procedural and practice guidance requirements. To implement new and emerging evidence within the service with regards to Health Visiting and Infant Feeding and Nutrition Practice

To develop, sustain and evaluate collaborative approaches to health visiting professional practise with other agencies to ensure coordinated and effective approaches to infant feeding and nutrition. 5. To take an active part in the corporate management of the service by attending appropriate management meetings and to lead on relevant projects as directed by service manager

6. To undertake line management responsibilities for the Infant Feeding Key workers, Breast Feeding Peer Support Volunteers, and staff delivering HENRY and Pregnancy Birth and Beyond Programme in Redcar and Cleveland

7. To provide expertise, advice, guidance and support to all staff across the Council in relation to Breast Feeding and Infant Nutrition; including the design and delivery of relevant training programmes for staff

8. To manage a clinical caseload to support service users presenting a range of highly complex health needs around infant feeding issues; including the undertaking of specialist assessments and delivery of appropriate, specialist interventions

9. To provide expert clinical advice with regards to Infant Feeding issues underpinned by evidence based knowledge and skills gained from post registration study i.e. Lactation Consultant qualification

10. To actively contribute to the identification of children at risk of abuse. Write reports and make referrals to other agencies in accordance with Council Policy and Procedures. Attend case conferences, core groups, strategy meetings and participate in any care protection plans which result from conference

11. To maintain accurate, comprehensive and contemporaneous records in accordance with the standards of the Council and Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) professional guidelines

12. To be able to respond appropriately to crisis situations such as bereavement, post-natal depression, substance misuse, where circumstances are distressing and emotive

13. To be able to work alone in a variety of working conditions, visiting families in their own home where the standards of hygiene can vary considerably
