We are looking for passionate and driven individuals to join our Talk Community Healthy Lifestyle Team. The service provides integrated behaviour support for smoking cessation, weight management, alcohol reduction, physical activity, all embedded in sustainable behaviour change and positive wellbeing.

As part of the SmokeFree generation government initiative we have secured funding for 3 Talk Community Health and Wellbeing Trainers. These roles will predominately focus on the delivery of stop smoking services across the county, along with developing and delivering a train the trainer model with our partners, to increase the reach and delivery of the service.A background in smoking cessation, nutrition, exercise, public health or community health and delivering training would be beneficial along with being excellent team player and having a willingness to learn and develop.This role will be locality based, working out and about with partners and communities within Herefordshire.

Main duties of the job

You will be motivated, organised and a proactive advisor, with experience of working in community health programmes; passionate about promoting healthy lifestyles and delivering motivational change which is client centered.You will be confident and experienced in delivering support to groups and in 1-2-1 meetings and in developing and facilitating training programmes.You will have strong communication skills & be confident delivering holistic health and lifestyle advice to individuals and groups, including carrying out brief interventions, initial assessments and ongoing support using proven behaviour change techniques

The main focus of the role will deliver stop smoking support across the county identifying and working with vulnerable groups and those with the greatest health inequalities and work as part of and alongside other Talk Community and public health initiatives across Herefordshire.

Ensuring that the ethos and approach of Talk Community is delivered and the programme of work is achieved to enable innovation to make independence and wellbeing for Herefordshire citizens inevitable.

They will offer practical tools and techniques, advice, knowledge and encouragement to enable and motivate people to change behaviours (stop smoking) and achieve better health choices and goals for themselves, their families and the wider community.

And will involve developing and sustaining wider community participation and responsibility for improved health outcomes.
