Job summary

Working within a multi-disciplinary team and applying strength based community focused model of social care within a locality setting. Senior Occupational therapists will supervise

Occupational Therapists as well as carry their own case load. They will assist the OT Practice manager with agreed delegated responsibilities in the delivery of effective management and development of the OT service.

Main duties of the job

Provide a broad range of support to clients who have physical or mental health problems, learning difficulties, dependencies or who are elderly and inform. Help to develop and/or maintain resident’s independence using a strengths based approach. To supervise Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants to achieve high standards of performance within the context of locality based care and in accordance with the Council’s policy procedure and in line with legislation. To assist the manager with the development and implementation of effective systems to manage the allocation of work to meet identified carer and user needs and the changing demand on resources To monitor the progress of work referred to the team and ensure case recordings and written communications meet departmental objectives, key performance indicatorsand standards. To ensure ongoing arrangements (where appropriate) are reviewed and monitored in accordance with the Government and departmental procedures and contractual agreements. To ensure the professional development of staff via supervision, appraisal and support and to report to the OT Practice Manager any identified training and development needs.

  • Evidence of substantial post qualifying experience, professional time working in an Adult Social Care environment
  • Previous experience of supervising staff with commitment to performance appraisals a learning culture and promotion of available staffing talent
  • Previous experience of therapeutic intervention, major adaptation planning, manual handling, risk assessments and supplying and fitting a broad range of equipment

Knowledge & Understanding

Essential

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Care Act 2014, Disabled Persons Act 1986, NHS & Community Care Act 1990, section 47, housing and Regeneration Act 1996 reo Mandatory DFGs and NSF for Older People
